Abbey Scaffolding was tasked with Erecting this extremely challenging rolling temporary roof, being so challenging due to the fact that no other rolling temporary roof had ever been built to this span without any support in the centre.
Measuring 56m between the Altrad system support Scaffolds, our operatives progressively built the roof from Gable end platform then rolled away bay by bay as we added on the subsequent bays. The roof, made up of 1.3m double beam lines was sat on caster wheels that ran along the purpose-built Scaffold on an I beam with 68 tonnes of Kentledge to prevent any uplift from the roof.
The roof could be completely opened to allow for new steel work to be installed to the building during the day then completely covered back over at night to prevent any weather damage.
